PowerSchool Tips for Going Mobile


Want to use your phone or tablet for all things PowerSchool?  Here’s what you need to know:
SAU90 Uses PowerSchool Websites.
  1. PowerSchool has three websites, each with very different features.  
    1. PowerTeacher helps teachers grade, take attendance, and more.  
    2. PowerSchool Admin is great for all of our operational needs.  
    3. And the Public Portal is where parents and middle school students can view grades, assignments, report cards, etc.
 
  1. If you work in the district and also have children attending school here, you’ll be switching between websites so that you can access either your information (Teacher or Admin Site) and your child’s information (Parent/Public Portal).

PowerSchool has Mobile Apps, but they don’t have all the features you’ll need.
  1. SAU90 uses additional PowerSchool software that works through the websites above.  Unfortunately, the apps do not support them.  Here are a two of the most important examples:
 
    • Official Report Cards 
    • Forms, such as the Covid-19 Health Assessment
When you go to the PowerSchool websites on your phone or tablet, and you’ve previously downloaded an app, the app may try to open automatically.
  • This can prevent you from viewing report cards and forms, because you are no longer using the website.
  • If you wish to use both the apps and the websites, and you are comfortable with technology, be diligent about answering “no” when prompted to open the app.  You may only be asked once. If you answer incorrectly, delete the app and start over.

For easy website access on your phone, consider adding a PowerSchool shortcut to your homescreen.
  1. Open the website in your browser:
    1. Easy ways to do this are to open this document via the email app on your phone and clicking the links above, or by visiting sau90.org or sau90help.org and finding the links there.
  2. Find the menu option on your device to Send, Pin, or Save:
  • Android Devices: look for a menu (often three dots) and select “Add to Home Screen”
  • Windows Devices: look for the menu (often three dots) and select “Pin to Start” or “Pin to Home Screen”
  • Apple Devices: look for the send button and select “Add to Home Screen”

  • Name the shortcut and you’re done.  The next time you need to access the website, just press on the new icon.
